Outlook &
Outlook Express
Setting up your
Email with Outlook 2000 or Outlook Express 5/6 in Windows®
- Start Outlook/Outlook
Express.
- From the Tools menu, select Accounts.
The Internet Accounts
dialog box appears.
- Select the Mail tab.
- Click Add, then select Mail.
The Internet Connection
Wizard dialog box appears.
- In the Display Name field,
type your name, then select Next.
(Note: This is the name the recipient will see in the From
field on most email clients. AOL users will see the address the
email was sent from.)
- In the E-mail
Address field, type your email address (or the
email address you want recipients to see), then select Next.
- In the My Incoming mail server is
a drop-down menu, verify that POP3 is selected.
- In the Incoming mail server
field, enter your domain name.
(Example: HappyWeb.net's domain name is happyweb.net. If your
domain is mydomain.com, then you would enter mydomain.com
in this field.)
- In the Outgoing mail server
field, enter your domain name (same as above), then select Next.
- In the Account Name field,
type in your Username.
- In the Password field, type
your Password.
(Note: Selecting the Remember password option lets Outlook
Express connect to your mailbox without asking you for your
password. Enabling this feature is optional.)
- Select Next.
- Click Finish to save the new email
settings.
- Click Properties.
- Under the General tab there
are some miscellaneous fields (Organization, Reply address) which
are optional and may be filled in.
- Select the Advanced tab.

section, that the Leave a copy of messages on server option
is unchecked. If your mail is left on the server, the file

all the mail on the server.
- Click OK to save the mail
account.
- Click Close to close the Internet
Accounts dialog box.
After setting up Outlook/Outlook Express,
you can send and receive email using the Tools, Send and
Receive command or by pressing the F5 key.
